Thrifted by the Ocean was born from a love of the sea, a belief in creating differently, and my daughter, Rose.

It began with me sewing clothes for the two of us. Before one of our first big adventures together, I spent weeks creating the pieces we would wear on our travels. What started as something personal soon began attracting attention. At beaches, marinas and on our travels, people would stop us to ask where our clothes were from and whether I could make something for them too.

Slowly and organically, Thrifted by the Ocean began to grow.

But I knew that if I was going to create a clothing brand, I wanted it to reflect the life and values behind it.

The ocean is a huge part of our lives and has always been at the heart of the brand. With that comes an awareness of what we consume, what we throw away and the impact our choices can have on the world around us.

Creating more, without always making more.

The fashion industry has taught us to constantly want something new. Thrifted by the Ocean takes a different approach.

I source beautiful existing, vintage and repurposed fabrics and reimagine them into clothing designed to be worn, loved and lived in again and again.

Instead of beginning with rolls of newly manufactured fabric, many of my designs begin with something that already exists. Sometimes there is enough material for only one piece; sometimes a tiny collection. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

That makes every garment naturally limited and gives each one its own history and character.

It is my version of slow fashion — thoughtful sourcing, small-scale production and creating pieces with purpose rather than contributing unnecessarily to a cycle of overproduction and waste.

For me, sustainability and ocean conservation begin with the same principle: taking greater care of what we already have.

I want Thrifted by the Ocean to encourage a more conscious relationship with clothing — choosing individuality over mass production, reusing beautiful materials wherever possible and creating garments people want to keep rather than quickly replace.

From effortless beach kaftans to our Mummy & Me pieces, these are clothes designed for salty hair, bare feet, travelling, marina mornings, long beach days and making memories with the people we love.

And perhaps most importantly, I hope to show that something doesn’t have to be new to become something beautiful.
